The verification procedure explained
- For each of the four positions of the entered number - the "guess" - it is verified 1) whether the digit in that position occupies the same position in the randomly chosen secret number, and 2) if not so, whether the digit in that positions occurs elsewhere in the randomly chosen secret number.
- Across the four digits of the "guess", the number of positives on 1) is summed and displayed in the field "digits in your guess occupy that same position in the secret number", and the number of positives on 2) is summed and displayed in the field "digits in your guess occur in the secret number but occupy a different position".
- The number of attempts so far is displayed in the field "attempts so far".
